A track you barely see
Permanent lighting is a row of small LED lights mounted in a track along the edge of your roof. The track runs under the eave and the wiring runs inside it, so there are no loose cords, no clips and no strands hanging off the gutter. In daylight most people walking by never notice it.
At night you pick the look. Warm white on a regular weeknight, red and green in December, orange for Halloween, blue on game day. Every photo on this page is an RM Lighting Solutions install.
Why we use a track
Some permanent systems clip the lights straight to the fascia and leave the wire out in the open. That is quicker to install and you can see it from the street. We run every job in a track, which covers the wiring, keeps each light on the same line and protects the run from the weather. It looks like it came with the house.
Installed by a roofer
Permanent lighting is fastened to the house for good, so where the fasteners go matters. Ray Mendoza has more than nine years in professional roofing and over $10 million in roofing projects behind him. He mounts the track to the fascia or under the drip edge with hardware made for the material, and nothing goes through the shingles.
Any time of year
Seasonal installs start October 1. Permanent lighting goes in all year long, and spring and summer are the easy months to get on the calendar.
What it costs
Every house is different, so permanent lighting gets its own proposal with a mockup of the track line on your home. It is not in the cost calculator for that reason. What is permanent holiday lighting?
It is a row of small color-changing LED lights mounted in a track under the edge of your roof. The wiring runs inside the track, so nothing hangs loose, and it stays up all year. You pick the colors from your phone, warm white for everyday and whatever you like for the holidays.
Can you see permanent lights during the day?
Barely. The track sits under the eave and we pick a color that blends with your trim. Most people walking past in daylight never notice it. The photos on our permanent lighting page show what it looks like by day.
Can permanent lights be installed outside the holiday season?
Yes. RM Lighting Solutions installs permanent lighting all year long, not just in the fall. Spring and summer are good times to do it because the seasonal calendar is empty and your install goes in on the day you want it, with no competition for dates.
Does a permanent install damage the roof or fascia?
Not when a roofer installs it. The track mounts to the fascia or under the drip edge with the right fasteners for the material, and Ray Mendoza has over nine years of professional roofing experience deciding where those go. Nothing penetrates the shingles and water still sheds the way it should.
